The Rosauers
Open celebrated its 10th anniversary, and nobody partied
as hearty as Jeff Coston, who toasted the field with a 54-hole total
of 199 that was worth $12,000. His score left him 14 strokes under
par and three shots ahead of Bill Porter and Todd Erwin, who tied
for second at 202.
The
win provided some payback for Coston, a teaching professional at
Semiahmoo Golf and Country Club, who had finished second to Michael
Combs a year earlier.
Coston opened
the tournament with a sizzling six-under 65, but was still a stroke
behind three golfers including Indian Canyon assistant David
Christensen heading into the second round. He took the lead
on Day Two with a 68 and punctuated his final round with an eagle-3
on the Canyons uphill finishing hole.
Christensen,
after his opening-round 64, finished with a pair of 70s and tied
his boss and the tournaments host professional, Gary Lindeblad,
for fourth at 204.
