1995

Greg Whisman made Rosauers Open history by battling back from a five-stroke deficit over the final 11 holes to beat Tom Carey in a playoff and become the first player to win back-to-back titles. The Nike Tour regular from Everett made a short birdie putt on the second playoff hole to edge Carey and successfully defend the championship he won in 1994.

Greg WhismanWhisman and Carey finished regulation play at seven-under-par 206 and halved the first playoff hole with pars on the testy downhill 10th.

Whisman won it on the par-3 11th, the shortest hole on the course, with a five-foot birdie putt that Carey couldn’t answer.

As he began the final round, Whisman hardly seemed like a threat to Carey’s comfortable lead – especially after making bogey on the first. But he used an aggressive approach and some pinpoint iron play to launch his dramatic comeback on the back time.
