Greg Whisman
used patience and consistency to claim his first Rosauers Open,
coming back from a two-stroke deficit over the final nine holes
to beat Keith Williams and Greg McMillan by two shots. It was Whismans
first NWPGA win in six years and featured rounds of 65, 71 and 70
for a 54-hole total of 206 the highest ever for a Rosauers
champion.
Whisman
entered the final round with a one-stroke lead, but saw it evaporate
quickly as Williams strung together three consecutive birdies early
in the round to take a two-shot lead. Whisman answered, however,
by putting together a solid back nine of even-par 36, which was
good enough in the wake of William four-over 40.
The field was
tightly bunched near the top, with six players including
past Spokane champions Gary Lindeblad and Chris Mitchell
ties for fifth behind Doug Doxsie.
