Spokane native
Chris Mitchell, a former assistant at Indian Canyon, used a sizzling
putter to tame hid old course and become the first two-time champion
of the Rosauers Open. His 54-hole total of 18-under 195 was six
shots better than runner-up Keith Liedes 201 and still stands
as the tournaments lowest score.
Mitchell
opened with rounds of 66 and 65 before blistering the Canyon with
a final-round 64 that included birdie putts from 18, 10, 14, and
22 feet, along with a 22-footer that dropped for an eagle-3 on the
par-5 second hole.
Mitchells
birdie binge on a course he knows so well sapped the spirit from
Liedes and his other playing partner Mark Gardner, whose balky putter
took him out of contention on the back nine. The tournament was
moved back to Indian Canyon following a one-year hiatus to MeadowWood
Golf Course because of damage to the Canyons greens.
