Indian Canyon
professional Gary Lindeblad made good on his promise being a Northwest
PGA section event to Spokane and the inaugural Rosauers Open gained
immediate stature on the strength of its strong field, inviting
purse and exciting finish which saw Mike Davis defeat Walt
Porterfield Jr., on the third hole of a sudden-death playoff.
Davis
and Porterfield were deadlocked after 54 holes at 10-under-par 203.
Porterfield had a two-stroke lead heading into the final hole of
regulation, but lost it when Davis dropped a birdie put in on top
of his bogey.
The playoff
started at No. 16 and was extended to the 18th when both
golfers parred the first two holes.
And the short,
uphill par-5 just a accommodating to Davis the second time around,
yielding a birdie that was worth $5,000.
